Welcome to Shrewsbury United Reformed Church
All Are Welcome
During these challenging times and with the country in another lockdown,
there is no "in person" worship in the Church for the time being.
Regular services will be conducted on Zoom, Facebook (for those with internet access)
or via phone-in as below.
Via our Resources page, we will post links and access online events such as our regular quizzes and coffee and chat mornings to keep us all connected during this period.
Please take care, keep safe, and keep in touch.
2021 National Lockdown
A message from Reverend Carole and The SURC - 05.01.21
I hesitate to offer a "Happy New Year" or even a "Good" this morning as we wake up to the new lockdown reality. But I feel wishing you God's blessings for the coming year is ok.
Each of you are affected by this new lockdown differently whether through work or personal circumstances. Whilst we can't meet in person we want to support each other in the fellowship and if there is anything you need or would find helpful, or want to offer, please do contact me, an Elder or your pastoral link. From a phone call to a pint of milk, a chat about what happens when you go for the vaccine to a prayer, we can support one another whatever our age or situation.
Also if there is anyone you become aware of in your neighbourhood, families and friendship groups that need support please do get in touch so that we can support and signpost those in need to where they may find help.
Please join with me in praying for:
Teachers, parents, children,
Those who work in medical and caring settings,
Those whose jobs or unemployment are increasing hard and anxious,
Shop owners and workers
Those who are hungry, isolated, living in fear or with great sadness
our community leaders, decisions makers and politicians
Lord, in these changing days of this new year we pray,
may your light bring comfort, compassion, creativity and courage to those around us.
may your love be shared and known beyond our walls and fellowship
may we reflect your light and love and know it in our hearts and minds too.
Access for All
Shrewsbury URC is committed to making sure that services and facilities are accessible to everyone, including those with limited mobility, visual impairment and hearing difficulties. (Our Christmas Eve service 2020 offers BSL on zoom) We have made all floor levels in the church the same, and a new doorway into the hall complex. This has eased access for wheelchair users, and makes movement around the building safe for everyone.
There is an induction loop system for hearing aid users in the church and in the lecture hall. We have a disabled toilet with baby changing facilities. We also provide large print hymn book as well as projected word onto two large screens. Large print copies of songs that are not in our two hymn books are available for people who cannot use the screens.
